We’ll be honest: you’ve probably heard a lot of junk about the Bible. One group thinks it says one thing, another group thinks it says another. What gets lost in the battle is the invaluable guidance the Bible provides – to everyone – for life’s ups and downs.
Those ups and downs are highlighted by subject in this Bible that we’d like to give to you or a friend. Feeling hurt? There are specific Bible sections to give you comfort. Have a broken heart? There’s guidance on that, too. And for the first time, it’s in easy-to-understand, everyday English – a Common English Bible (New Testament).
We do not offer you this Bible with an agenda. Rather, we simply want to make this everyday Bible and its relevant index available to you for the times when answers aren’t clear. Like many people, you might be surprised to discover that those answers are often revealed through inspiring stories and commentary – not through lists of do’s and don’t’s. And as United Methodists, we encourage and empower you to consider its guidance in relation to the other pillars that inform our faith: tradition, experience, and reason.

I would also love to have an electronic version of Bible preferably in epub format.

I would like to recieve the CEB Bible, but the page is not working.
Hi! Sorry you are having difficulty ordering a Bible (it is working from our side). Please feel free to contact us at rethinkadmin@umcom.org and we'll help you through this process.
Great article
Hello all, I do not remember the exact day I ordered my, but it seemed like the next day I received it. I do remember that I ordered something from another so called Christian site a couple of days before it. I paid for the item and shipping and I have still not received it over a week later.
The order process was slightly confusing to me, but I was able to stumble through it. The bible did arrive very quickly as I stated above. I was very happy with this version. The best part is the print is a big enough font for me to read very easily.
If through this bible and going to worship makes me a slave to the church than as far as I am concerned there are far worst things to be enslaved to.
Kevin
i ordered my bible thursday and recieved it today tuesday.
@Vennie -- The Bible did not create the slave system, nor did the Church. Slavery predates written records. It existed in human prehistory. The earliest mention of slavery occurs in the Code of Hammurabi, (ca. 1760 BC), and was already an accepted human institution before the Bible was written, and for nearly 2000 years before the birth of Christ. Get your facts straight, pal! Maybe you should actually *study* history before you make broad pronouncements about it. The "tithe" is not enslavement or a tax. It is voluntary.
I ordered one two days ago, and it shipped today. Could anyone that had a problem with it please specify what exact issue you had in the process? Maybe I could help since it worked for me.
The lack of understanding when it comes to a simple technical error amazes me. I am far more put off by somebody typing a whole paragraph griping someone out for a technical error than I am by the technical error. Geeze people, come on, it obviously was a mistake. I got mine for free, and it is wonderful. Thank you for giving them away for free.
"Love is patient, love is kind..." 1 Corinthians 13:4
Vennie,
It is called "rethink church" not "reMOVE church" -- The Church remains an important institution for many of us. But, it is more than just an institution -- it remains the primary instrument God uses to take the Good News to the world. If it were not for the Church, and in particular the United Methodist church in which I was raised, I may have not come to know God.
Here stands a website entitled "rethink church" and yet it is "giving away" Bibles, the very indoctrination that created the slave system of church (and tithe) - United Methodists rethinking church - christians passing themselves off as spiritualist. Proceed with caution. if there was validity to the existence of the devil, this would be it, coming in sheeps clothing to bait in more victims.
anyone who can't spot this farce a mile away is deeply asleep. Wake up Folks - it all leads back to the same Wallet.
WOW, WHAT PLANET DID ALL THAT COME FROM? And the amazing thing is, God still loves us all equally...even if we cannot think for ourselves. Sounds like you're involved with a lot of things that leads back to "the" wallet and are much more harmful than any free Bible given without any attachment. Giving comes from the heart, not from someone forcing you to do it. It saved my life, and it can help save yours too.

I'm not sure if part of your post was due to the frustrating technical side of requesting this Bible--they do need to fix that. But, yes--horrible things including slavery have been justified by Christian scripture and its interpretation. However: the thing is that on this website, you can take it or leave it. The ability to truly opt out makes your enslavement rant a bit inflammatory to say the least and inaccurate by most standards. Peace to you, Vennie.
Vennie - You are right. When you can see the pain and injustice perpetrated by Christians and the Church throughout history it is *very* hard to believe that any good can come from it. The church's history of inappropriate and unethical uses of the Bible and consumer "bait & switch" tactics is very painful for me, too, and especially ironic as I am a pastor in the United Methodist Church. As a whole, Christians need to begin to recognize that "Rethinking Church" must involve DEEP reflection of how we are seen by others -- because that *is* a reality too.
As for evidence of the devil -- Vennie, you are very perceptive. I agree that the way preachers have (and unfortunately will) use Biblical exerpts to "back up" their own hurtful and hateful agendas is evidence of the devil's temptations. Even the Bible shows the sneaky way that the Devil twists God's words. If you look at the story of Adam & Eve in Genesis chapter 3 and the story of the Temptation of Jesus in Matthew chapter 4, Mark chapter 1, and Luke chapter 4 (the story is told three times), you can see how the devil tries to use the "literal" language to negate the heart of the message.
Vennie, thank you for taking the time to post on this site. Please pray that the church *can* live the heart of God. We need your prayers because for man y church people, this will mean learning to think and do things differently. Blessings to you. ~ Lori
It just worked fine for me. The transaction was actually very easy and quick. Please try again if you had trouble.
Guys, try again. I had no trouble ordering mine. Monica, it is not listed as $5.95 and there is no shipping charge. You must have entered something incorrectly or it has been corrected since your attempt.
here's the problem....you offered something....for free. then....people can not get it. you didn't HAVE to OFFER IT for FREE...but you DID. But, you really didn't, because the link doesn't allow anyone to actually GET IT. the LAST THING you should EVER come across looking like - as a presumed diplomat of GOD....is deceptive. No one would seek you out who was not minimally seeking the divine. And to seek the divine and be left with the standard glitch...the free one does not work - but you can still BUY one for $5.95, plus shipping and handling. Hey, while you've got your card out, wanna contribute?? Not saying that's what you DID....just saying THAT'S HOW IT PLAYS OUT. Bad Form. Hope you didn't lose any stray sheep you were supposed to be CARRYING.
I believe that the bible work if you know how to apply faith along with it Faith comes by hearing the word of God
