What is now an annual community service day, the Magic City Miracle in Birmingham, Alabama disperses volunteers throughout the city to spread kindness and good deeds to benefit the city's most vulnerable populations: school children, homeless, the elderly and many others.
From children sorting through 40,000 lbs. of sweet potatoes for Alabama Gleaning, a year-round ministry that provides fresh food for local food banks and shelters, to treating newly built classrooms, the volunteers of the Magic City Miracle brought hope to the city.
With no less than 1,800 volunteers across 85 locations, over 200,000 lives in the Greater Birmingham area are impacted every year.
Here's one story:
We had a young man in his early 20’s ride up on his Harley. Although we didn’t hear his story, he told us he woke up this beautiful morning with nothing planned and decided he wanted to help out somewhere in the community.
He hadn’t heard of the Magic City Miracle, but had gone online, saw the event on the internet, went to Linn Park, and ended up at Midfield. He did an amazing amount of work in the 4 hours he was with the group.
