Love Moved Into The Neighborhood

In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.

Luke 2:1-5, NRSV

It is Christmas Day. What are you doing today? Sleeping in? Putting away the wrapping paper and eating last night’s leftovers? Perhaps volunteering for a few hours to serve meals to your community’s hungry?

Whatever you choose to do today, carry this good news with you in to the New Year:

The Word became flesh and blood,
    and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
    the one-of-a-kind glory,
    like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
    true from start to finish.

John 1:14, The Message

Love came down to dwell among us. Love moved in to the neighborhood. Do you see it?

Thank you for being a part of the Rethink Church community. Blessings and a joyous Christmas to you and yours.
